CURRICULUM

The provision for children's development and learning is guided by two frameworks within the Sure Start programme of the DfES.

BIRTH TO THREE MATTERS

Pre-School Classroom

Birth to three matters is a framework for learning through play to support children in their earliest years . In giving regard to this framework, Wolvey Pre-School promotes the entitlement of every baby and young child to be and become:

THE FOUNDATION STAGE

For children between the ages of 3 and 5 years, Wolvey Pre-School provides a curriculum for the foundation stage of education, the guidance for which is set out in a document published by QCA and DfES.

This guidance divides children's learning and development into six areas:

For each area of learning and development, the guidance sets out early learning goals. These goals state what is expected that children will know and be able to do by the end of the reception of their education.

For each early learning goal, the guidance sets out stepping stones, which describe the stages through which children are likely to pass as they move to achievement of the goal.

Wolvey Pre-School uses the stepping stones to help trace each child's progress and to enable the provision of the right activities to help all of the children move towards achieving the early learning goals. Your child's progress is recorded in Records of Achievement.
